Hong Kong Railway Museum

Situated in the town centre of Tai Po Market, the Hong Kong Railway Museum is an

 open-air museum occupying some 6,500sq.m. It encompasses the old Tai Po Market

 Railway Station building, a narrow gauge steam locomotive, six historical railway

 carriages, and a red-brick office block. The station building, erected in 1913, has the

 pitched roof of the traditional Chinese building. It was declared a monument in 1984.

 After restoration and refurbishment, the building was opened as a museum in 1985.

 

香港鐵路博物館

香港鐵路博物館位於大埔墟市中心,是一所佔地6,500平方米的露天博物館。該館

的主要構成部分,包括舊大埔墟火車站大樓、窄軌蒸汽火車頭、六輛歷史車卡和

一座用紅磚建成的辦公室。舊大埔墟火車站大樓建於一九一三年,是一座風格獨

特的中國金字頂傳統建築。一九八四年火車站大樓被列為法定古蹟,經過復修工

程及重新佈置後,於一九八五年開放予市民參觀。
